Green To Go

We know that students are busy and often must eat on the run.  This need makes to-go dining very popular on our campus, but also potentially generates massive amounts of waste.  Much of this waste is diverted from landfills by utilizing recyclable and compostable packaging.  The Green To Go aims to avoid the use of this packaging altogether by shifting from single-use to reusable containers.  We now offer an eco-clip as well, eliminating the need to carry your reusable container around with you.

All first year students receive a Green To Go container and an eco-clip to start the transition to a culture of reusable containers on campus.

How Does Green To Go Work?

  1. Take your eco-clip or dirty Green To Go reusable container to the Commons Bakery, the Hill or Holy Cross. These locations will trade you a clean Green To Go container. (at the library, you drop your dirty container in the recycling bin in front of the library and get an eco-clip at the desk)
  2. Use the Green To Go reusable container at all dining locations to get your meal.
  3. Time to pay for your food!  You save $.40 (the cost of a single use, non-reusable container) every time you use your Green To Go reusable container.
  4. Enjoy your meal, empty the container and return it to the Commons Bakery, the Hill, Holy Cross or the Library Front Desk.  They will take your dirty container and give you an eco-clip or a clean Green To Go reusable container.  (at the library, you drop your dirty container in the recycling bin in front of the library and get an eco-clip at the desk)
  5. Now the cycle repeats.  You save money, the environment and reduce your environmental footprint by using your Green To Go reusable container again and again!
